Adil Masih is a Pakistani Christian asylum seeker who lives in Bangkok with his 40 years old wife and 11-year-old son. His asylum application has been rejected by UNHCR and the appeal to reopen the file may take up to a year. Adil is one of the thousands of asylum seekers who fled Pakistan for saving their lives and came to Thailand with the hopes of being heard and helped.
But according to the UNHCR Pakistan is a safe place for Christians and they can return home despite Pakistan being sixth most dangerous place in the world to live as Christians. On the other hand, the Thai authorities consider them illegal immigrants and detain them if they are stopped on the streets or if their homes are raided.
During their stay in Thailand these refugees take up employments which are dangerous and poorly paid because the Thai government does not allow them to work and they must somehow feed their families. Adil and his family have also been victims of these dilemmas for several years. But recently their problems increased when Adil was diagnosed with an illness.
He was suffering from a blood clot in his leg, known as deep vein thrombosis (DVT), which is very dangerous if the clot breaks free, it can spread to the heart, brain and lungs, which could be fatal. The mortality rate in these cases is very high if it is not treated properly and in a timely manner. Adil suffered from swelling in the affected part of his leg, pain, cramps, sudden breathlessness and sharp pain in his heart.
Adil was worried about his family if something happened to him, being in a foreign country where they don’t even have legal status. That is why he asked our foundation for medical support as he needed urgent surgery and post-operative healthcare. We decided to help him and cover his medical expenses.
On May 20th 2025, Adil was successfully operated and he is out of danger. He can now live a normal life, work and support his family without having to worry about his health. Please keep Adil and his family in your prayers that sooner or later they may get resettled to a safe third nation where they can live a peaceful life with rights, respect and dignity, Amen.
