Kiran Irfan – Conditional bail from detention

Kiran Irfan | Pakistani Christians fleeing to Thailand | UNHCR

Kiran 35 and Irfan 39 are a Christian couple who reside in Bangkok as asylum seekers from last 4 years along with their two little children, Adan 8 years and Eiman 4 years. Just like many other Pakistani Christian asylum seekers they also go through the financial and legal hardships since they are not provided any support from UNHCR. Few months ago they were caught by the Thai police and sent to the immigration detention which is worldwide known for its inhumane, unhygienic and overcrowded conditions.

She was kept in women´s area with her children, and her husband was detained in men´s section. In other words, the family was separated. The children were not able to endure the suffering in that prison like atmosphere. In a cell where only 5 or 6 detainees would fit was filled with 25 detainees. The toilet kept stinking and the food was uneatable.

The couple sent request to our foundation for freedom with conditional bail. We, as a Christian foundation decided to help Kiran as we found her claim genuine and we could feel the suffering of her little children who wanted to be free and live a normal life.

We immediately took action through our team in Bangkok, paid the bail bond, arranged all the necessary documentation and freed them from detention. Now they have a legal document in their hand which allows them to move freely without any fear of being caught again. Kiran was overwhelmed with joy and while crying she thanked our foundation saying “I called many organizations from inside the IDC, I sent letters to many human rights activists but no one cared of my suffering, I am grateful to your organization for making us reunited and free again.”

Irfan, Kiran´s husband was happily playing with his children after so long and said; “we do not deserve what we have faced, we are not criminals, on the contrary we are persecuted due to our faith, it is sad how we are treated in this foreign land and UNHCR´s representatives never even visited us, but your foundation helped us in time when we were in desperate need, Thank you very much.”

Please remember in your prayers hundreds of many more Pakistani Christian refugees who are currently detained in Bangkok´s immigration detention center and cannot obtain the temporary release due to the lack of financial resources. With your support we might be able to free many more Christian individuals and families who left Pakistan due to the religious persecution. Let us join hands to free some most deserving candidates from the detention so they can join their children and family members while waiting to be resettled to a safe third nation. Please let us know if God moves your heart to be part of this mission. May God bless you all. Amen.
